Alice Frank, age 94, of Conrad, Iowa, passed away on the afternoon of Christmas Eve 2023 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.
Per her wishes and request, no formal services will be held at this time. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is entrusted with her services. Ph. 641-844-1234.
Born on July 15th, 1929, in Allentown, PA, she was the daughter of William and Jenny (Livingston) Botka. She received her education in the area of her birth and college in Westchester, PA.
In August of 1949, she was united in marriage to Richard Allen Frank in San Francisco while he was stationed in the United States Navy. They moved back to Pennsylvania but the winters were not as enjoyable as that in California, so they moved to the west coast. Here is where eldest son Allen was born. Living there a few years, her husband was called to the ministry of God’s work that carried for over 50 years as he served as pastor in the Nazarene churches. Many communities were home over those years and they had the blessings of three children- Allen, Lane and Darlene. At retirement, they moved to Gulf Shores, Alabama. After moving to Pennsylvania to be near her son and family, she changed roles from being the pastor’s wife to being the pastor’s mother. She began a prayer ministry recognizing many seniors in the church did not have e-mail and served at the greeter for 13 years- never missing a Sunday at the Conoy Brethren in Christ Church in Elizabethtown, PA. She was attending church in Clutier, Iowa, at the time of her passing.
When her son and daughter-in-law moved to Conrad to be near their family, Alice lovingly moved into their home. She enjoyed her apartment allowing her independence and visiting with family on her phone. She was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and met Sammy Sosa at a game her son-in-law Richard brought her to. She named her dog Sammy Sosa as well.
Left to cherish her memory is her three children: Allen (Trish) Frank of Conrad, Lane (Jeanne) Frank of Pueblo, CO, and Darlene (Richard) Charlesworth of Largo, FL; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In death, Alice rejoined her beloved Richard who died in 2001, her parents, and sister Anna Gottschalk and brother Lincoln Botka.
