Arlene Dupratt

Arlene DuPratt, age 85, of Marshalltown, passed away early Thursday morning, August 20th, 2020 at the Grandview Heights Rehab and Healthcare.  Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family service will take place.  Arlene and her family are being cared for by Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. For additional questions or to leave a condolence, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234.          Born Arlene Joann Mohr on April 18th, 1935, in Chicago, she was the daughter of Gottfried and Margaret (DeHaan) Mohr. At the age of three months, the family moved to Des Moines, IA. Arlene graduated from the North High School in Des Moines in 1953.          In August of 1953, she was united in marriage to Donald DuPratt and three daughters were born to this union.          In December of 1983, they moved to Marshalltown and owned and operated the Montgomery Ward Store on Main Street. They also owned and operated Speed-Wash on South 3rd Avenue and the High Street Trailer Court. Arlene worked at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home as their secretary until her retirement in 1999 when they moved to Florida. The DuPratts returned to Marshalltown in 2013 due to health and to be near family.          Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Cindy Lukehart of Ankeny, Jill Crawford of Memphis, TN and Lori DuPratt-Klosterman of Marshalltown; four sisters: Barbara Andrews of Moore, OK, Patsy Matheny of Des Moines, Janet Draper of West Des Moines and Bonnie Kahre of Urbandale; one brother G. Scott Mohr of Virginia Beach, VA; five grandchildren: Mike Lukehart, Curt Crawford, Marc Crawford, Jami Olsen and Crystal Phipps; numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.          In death, she rejoined her husband Don, her parents and her sister Linda Gordinier.
