Audrey Thoms, 81, of Marshalltown, died Sunday, January 10, 2010, at her home due to Alzheimers disease. She was in the care of her loving family and Iowa Hospice.Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Phone 641-844-1234.Audrey Leone Hanson was born on April 6, 1928, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was the daughter of C. Leonard and Nettie (Krogh) Hanson. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1946. On August 15, 1952, Audrey married Robert Thoms at Nazareth Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. To this union, two children were born: Carol and Paul.Prior to marriage, Audrey worked as a secretary at JC Penney Company in Waterloo and Waterloo Savings Bank. She specialized in stenography and dictation. After marriage, Audrey was very proud to serve as a pastors wife and homemaker. She was a talented singer and enjoyed singing with the church choir.Audrey will be missed by her husband of over 57 years, Bob Thoms of Marshalltown; her children Carol (Gary) Scott of Marshalltown and Rev. Paul (Rev. Julie) Thoms of Creston, OH; her granddaughter Catherine (Daniel) Montgomery of Clinton, IA; and her sister Julie (Leon) Pipho of Penney Farms, FL.In death, she has rejoined her parents and her two sisters, Thelma Kamienski and Lorraine Schmidt.
