Barbara J. Mason, 68, of State Center, died Tuesday morning, March 20th, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center while in care of the Iowa River Hospice. Her family wishes to thank the MMSC and Iowa River Hospice for Barbs compassionate and tremendous care. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24th, at the State Center United Methodist Church with Pastor Gene Kubli officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Hillside Cemetery at State Center. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family funeral Home West Marshall Chapel in State Center from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday. Born Barbara Jean Heath on May 14th, 1938, at Mrs. Willards house at State Center, she was the daughter of Guy William and Alice R. (Meier) Heath. She received her education in Clemons and graduated from the Clemons High School. She later attended medical aid training at MCC. Barbara was united in marriage to William Bill Mason on October 15th, 1960, in Clemons. They made their home at Garwin, Clemons and later State Center. She had been employed at Northwestern Bell Telephone for 17 years, the State Center Manor and the Iowa Veterans Home. Mrs. Mason was a member of the State Center United Methodist Church, Telephone Pioneers of America and enjoyed fishing and traveling. Left to celebrate her life are her husband, William of the Grandview Heights in Marshalltown, her cousin (more like a sister) Joyce (Ronald) Weiss of Rockwell City, adopted daughter and her family- Don and Barb Peters of Marshalltown, granddaughter Kloey Fairall, other family members and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her parents and her son, Gordie Mason.
