William Bill Betts, 82, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. There will be no visitation but the family would invite you to stay for a time of fellowship after the service. Memorials may be directed to the family. William Warren Betts was born in Des Moines, Iowa on March 3, 1935; he was the son of Garrett and Euphema (Robbins) Betts, he attended school and graduated from LeGrand Community School District with the Class of 1953. Bill served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1957 until 1959. On December 24, 1960, Bill was united in marriage to Beverly Linsenmeyer at the Grace United Methodist Church Church in Marshalltown, Iowa and they lived in rural Marshalltown most of their married lives. He had worked at Le Grand Cessford Construction in the Asphalt Division. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and the out of doors any day, anytime; they enjoyed garage sales, and the Casino. He was a member of Central Iowa Coon Hunters Association in LeGrand. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years, Beverly, and daughter Troi Betts of Clinton, Iowa and sister, Bev Church of Arkansas and many friends. In death Bill rejoins he parents, Garrett and Euphema Betts Harris, and brothers, Bob and Gene Betts.
