Bill Tinius, 79, of Marshalltown, died Monday, October 22, 2012, at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Following cremation, memorial services for Bill will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 28, 2012, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. There will not be a visitation. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for William and his family. Bill was born June 22, 1933 on a farm in Pierce County, Nebraska, the son of Paul and Lena (Richter) Tinius. He graduated from Norfolk High school in Nebraska. Bill married Barbara Jean Peters on March 23, 1957 in Vermillion, South Dakota. He served our Country during the Korean War. After coming home, Bill was employed at Norfolk Printing and later moved to Iowa managing Holiday gas station. He also worked for Farm Service for 10 years, and most recently worked at the 3rd Ave Kwik Star here in Marshalltown. Bill enjoyed Nebraska football, camping, golfing and bowling, and spending time with friends and family. Bill is survived by his children: Tami (Mike) McLaren, Marla (Jim) Hedum, Troy Tinius, Mark Tinius, Scott Tinius; one sister, Bernice Walters, one brother, Walter Lefty (Marian) Tinius, 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, parents, an infant brother William Kurt, his brother, Harry Tinius, his sister, Delores Schrader.
