Blanche F. Propp, 90, of Marshalltown, formerly of Melbourne, died Saturday June 12th, 2010 at Grandview Heights. A celebration of Blanches life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 16th at St. John United Church of Christ in Melbourne. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. She will be laid to rest in the Melbourne Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Blanches honor to St. John United Church of Christ and Iowa Hospice. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Blanche and her family, phone 641-844-1234. Blanche was born in Omaha, NE on May 7th, 1920 to parents James and Elisa (Miller) Smith. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1938. On June 17th, 1939 Blanche was united in marriage to Laurence Propp in Melbourne. The couple made their home in Melbourne, where they lived their entire married lives. Throughout her working life, Blanche had been employed with Rileys Grocery Store in Melbourne, the Marshall County Care facility, and Westwood Care Center. Blanche enjoyed Knitting and crocheting, reading, camping and fishing, as well as wintering in Forsythe, MO. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and continue to love her. Left to celebrate Blanches life is her son Dean (Judy) Propp of Melbourne, her daughter Susan (Richard) Phillips of State Center; and daughter-in-law Darlene (the late Gary) Propp of Collins; her grandchildren: Michelle (Andy) OKelly, Rob (Mollie) Propp, Stephanie Roseland, Christopher (Erin) Propp, Tracy (Marcey) Propp, Joel (Jeanne) Phillips, Brad (Molly) Phillips, Jennifer (Jeff) Babb, Brian (Helena) Phillips, Lisa Propp, and Sara (Andrew) Coree; sixteen great-grandchildren; her sisters Dorothy Anderson and Claire Erickson; and her brother Larry Smith. In death, Blanche has rejoined her parents, her husband Laurence (1999), and her son Gary (2000).
