Brent Allen Arends, 34, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018 in the comfort of his own home. Brent had a special connection with everyone he met through his outgoing and joyful personality. Memorial services for Brent will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Dylan Does officiating. Public visitation will be held one hour prior to services. In honor of Brent, the family has requested everyone to wear their Iowa Hawkeye or Kansas City Chiefs or casual clothing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Brent’s name to his family which will be later divided to Care Initiatives (Southridge Nursing and Rehab), Iowa Veterans Home, and local YMCA. Brent Allen Arends was born on March 19, 1984 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Brian and Barbara (Butler) Arends. He was raised and educated in the Marshalltown School District, graduating from Marshalltown High School. Following high school, Brent went on to receive his CNA license. On August 20, 2004 Brent was married to the love of his life, Christy Lynn Cue in Marshalltown, Iowa. Brent was employed as a CNA at the Iowa Veterans Home and Care Initiatives (Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center). He loved spending time and bonding with all of the residents where he worked. Brent had a passion for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas City Chiefs, golfing, running, his collection of shoes and living a faith based life and attended Restore Church. Most importantly, Brent loved spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife: Christy; daughter: Kaylynn Arends; parents: Brian and Barbara Arends; Siblings: Benjamin Arends and Brianne Arends; Nieces and Nephews: Colton Arends, Bradin Arends, Jonathan Arends, Brooke Arends, Wesley Haynes, Eden Haynes and Cian Hammarmeister. He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Roger and Phyllis Arends as well as his grandfather: Merle Butler.
