C. Virgil Haight, 93, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2012. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown with a luncheon to follow. He will be laid to rest in a private family interment at the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. Friday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: First Presbyterian Church, Iowa River Hospice or the charity of your choice.Virgil was born on August 16, 1918, in Winfield, Iowa, to Chester W. and Lela M. Haight. He graduated from Iowa State University in June 1940 and then began a 40 year career with Cargill, Inc. during which he served as sales manager for several Iowa territories. He was a long-time member and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Marshalltown, Quarterback Club and Elmwood Country Club where he scored four holes-in-one. He enjoyed cheering for the Iowa State Cyclones and the Marshalltown Bobcats. His love for music was expressed in many ways through his participation Iowa State Singers, Marshalltown Mens Chorus, Church choir and solo singing performing many years as tenor soloist in Handels Messiah and anytime there was a chance to sing. He will be missed by his wife of 70 years, Zaida C. Haight and his three children: Sandra K. Miller (Larry), Thomas C. Haight (Susan) and Timothy V. Haight (Wendy), eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
