Calvin Warren Goecke, 88, spent most of January in a hospital, eventually being released to his family at home. On the morning of February 10, 2012, he passed away to his heavenly home. Visitation will be held at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, Marshalltown, Iowa from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, February 13, 2012. Funeral services will be held at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Memorials may be directed to the Lamoille Congregational Church. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Shirley (Jones) Goecke; four children, eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Children: Kendra (Kirk) Graves, San Antonio, TX; Deborah Ewoldt, Marshalltown; Jeff (Nancy) Goecke, State Center; and Lisa (Bryan) Sievers, New Liberty, IA. Grandchildren: Kelly Graves and Jamie (Graves) Thomas; Jennifer (Ewoldt) Knock and Cory Ewoldt; Nathan Goecke, Brett Goecke and Jessica Goecke; Jamie and Meghan Youker ; Jon Sievers and Jenna (Sievers) Lueth. Eleven great grandchildren: Alexa Graves; Ella, Leah and Sophia Thomas; Kade and Grace Knock; Jarrin, Laurin and TJ Warren Goecke; and Matthew and Owen Sievers. Calvin and Shirley also provided a home to Dan Barker while his father served in Vietnam. Calvin was born September 19, 1923, to Frank and Genevieve Goecke, LaMoille, IA and farmed all of his life in the LaMoille area. He served his country in an Army hospital in Seoul, South Korea. He was a member of the American Legion and was a deacon at the LaMoille Congregational Church. He enjoyed participating in 4-H, where he held numerous offices. All his life he was an avid cattleman receiving many accolades exhibiting show cattle. He very much enjoyed watching sports, birds, deer, various critters and his rotating squirrel feeder. He devotedly loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren also an occasional trip to the casino. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Ralph, Clifford, Robert and Raymond Goecke, State Center, IA.
