Calvin John Ohrt, 83, of Marshalltown, died Friday, August 10, 2012, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown. Visitation for Calvin will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 13, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. The Loyal Order of the Moose will hold a service at 6:30 p.m., during the visitation. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at the First United Church of Christ in Marshalltown. Burial will take place at the Green Mountain Cemetery in Green Mountain, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be directed in Calvins name to his family. Calvin was born February 15, 1929, on his familys farm in Gladbrook, Iowa, the son of Henry and Mary (Busch) Ohrt. He received his education in Dysart, Gladbrook and graduated from the Green Mountain High School. Calvin was married to Marie Soderberg in1950. Following their marriage he worked as a hired hand for J.W. Wilson and Fred Bailey. Calvin also worked at Fisher Controls and as a hired hand for Ed Miller. In 1979 Calvin was married to Barbara J. Herman. They made their home in Marshalltown while Calvin continued his career with Fisher Controls until his retirement in 1992. Calvin is survived by his wife Barbara J. Ohrt of Marshalltown, his children: Randy Ohrt of Gladbrook, Arliss Ohrt of Marshalltown, Bill Herman of Laurel and Doris Wiener of Humboldt, his grandchildren: Quinten Herman of Laurel, Sarah Herman of Cedar Rapids, Jody Ohrt of Jefferson City, Missouri, Rachel Wiener of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Kaitlyn Wiener of Minneapolis, Minnesota, his sister Phyllis Wessely of Waterloo, Iowa, his brother Marvin (Manetta) Ohrt of Clutier, Iowa and his sister-in-law Barbara L. Ohrt of Marshalltown. Calvin was preceded in death by parents Mary & Henry Ohrt, his first wife Marie Sodeberg, his sisters; Caroline (Sieg) Petersen and Arlene (John) Terbl, his son-in-law Tom Wiener, his brother Leonard Ohrtand his brother-in-law Bob Wessely.
