Camelia Ilene Mowrey, 85, of Marshalltown, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Grandview Heights Healthcare and Rehab with her loving daughter Melanie at her side. Funeral services for Camelia will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Marshalltown. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Camelia and her family. Camelia Boyd was born on December 5, 1932 in Greene, Iowa to Burt and Claudia Eikenberry Boyd. After high school, she attended Evangelical Hospital School of Nursing and received her degree as a registered nurse. On January 4, 1953, Camelia was united in marriage to Robert Mowrey at First United Church of Christ in Marshalltown. Camelia worked as a registered nurse in the ER at the Marshalltown Area Community Hospital and later retired from Wolfe Eye Clinic. Camelia’s priorities were her strong Christian faith and her family. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her family, especially her newest great-granddaughter, Briley Jean. Camelia is survived by her children: Janet (Tom) McClure of Saint Charles, Missouri, Michelle (Dennis) Elliott of Jordan, Minnesota and Melanie (Bernie) Johnston of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Robert (Janice) McClure, the late Julie (Doug) McClure Sutton, Taryn Johnston, Tahler (Kyle)Wildman, Coleman (Deisy) Elliott, Kanen Elliott and Quinten Elliott; great-grandchildren: Karli McClure, Samantha McClure, Grace Sutton and Briley Wildman; as well as her sister Sharon Muhlstein of Mason City. Camelia is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob”; parents, Burt and Claudia Boyd; brothers, William Boyd and Burt Boyd Jr; granddaughter, Julie Sutton; and great-grandson, Samuel Allan Sutton.
