Carroll E. Lutes, 75, fondly known as Papa Carroll and Manny, passed from this life on the morning of Sunday, February 22nd, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 26th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with his brother,Gilbert Lutes, officiating. Born on November 13th, 1939, in Newton, at the family home, he was the son of Elmo and Mildred Ellen (Holstead) Lutes. Carroll was united in marriage to the love of his life, Faye Ethel Gummert, and they made Marshalltown their home where he was employed at Arbies Feeds. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed fishing, car shows, and watching NASCAR. Left to cherish his memory are his sons- Jim (Tonya) Lutes of Ft. Myers, FL and Joey (Malinda) Lutes of Marshalltown, three grandchildren- Samantha (Dillon) Million of Marshalltown, Mitchell (Melissa) Lutes of State Center and Raven Lutes of Ft. Myers, FL, three great-grandchildren- Morgan, Brooklyn and Nicholas as well as his siblings- Charming Bennethum of Marshalltown, Gladys (John) Lane of New Providence, Robert (Sharon) Lutes of Conrad, Gilbert Lutes in Arkansas, Janet Hamilton of Marshalltown and Janice Hughes of Marshalltown as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In death, Carroll rejoined his parents, his beloved wife Faye and siblings- Barbara Meyers, Frieda Peterson and Harry Lutes and step-brother Ted Thomas.
