Cathy Ann Beaumont

Cathy Ann Scheffert Beaumont, 73, of Marshalltown, passed away on Thursday, November 3rd, 2022.

Cathy Scheffert was born on December 22, 1948, to Bob and Flo (Wilson) Scheffert. She graduated from Marshalltown High School and Marshalltown Community College and attended Iowa State University.

On August 6, 1973, she was blessed with her son, Lue Beaumont. Cathy was a smart, strong, and independent woman. She was a hard working single mom who still managed to be there to support Lue and cheer him on at all his sporting events and activities. Her enthusiasm for sports continued as she cheered on her grandchildren Gavin and Blythe every opportunity she had. She also loved following college football and her Cyclones.

Cathy had a successful career in accounting, dedicating many years to the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care and Mid Continent Concrete Company. In addition, she volunteered her time to community programs such as Y-Teens, a youth program supporting young women and girls, helping them develop and learn leadership skills.

Most would describe Cathy as loving, caring, gracious and VERY generous. She always went overboard, showering her family and especially her grandchildren with gifts. For those who knew Cathy really well, they may have experienced some of her fun-loving teasing and pranks. And even until her last days her family cherished her great sense of humor. Most importantly, Cathy had an everlasting love for Christ.

Cathy’s joyful spirit and infectious laugh (something the entire Scheffert family shared) will be missed the most.

We want to extend a special thank you to Erin Beaumont who was Cathy’s loving support after their shared loss of Cathy’s mom, dad, and son. Erin supported Cathy in her failing health journey and during her final weeks in hospice. We are so grateful for all the visitors and support during this time. We especially want to thank the sweet and caring staff at Iowa River Hospice House who got to know Cathy’s witty, fun, and sometimes stubborn personality.

Cathy is survived by her daughter-in-law Erin (Condit) Beaumont; grandchildren Gavin and Blythe Beaumont; and cherished family by son Lue’s marriage to Erin; Kirstan, Rick, Callie, Clayton, Barb, Alix, and Sydnee Condit.

In death she is reunited with her parents Flo and Bob Scheffert and her son Lue Beaumont.
