He was raised and educated in the Ames school district graduating from Ames High School in 1957. Chuck married his high school sweet heart, Dorothy VanDerWilt, on July 3, 1958, in Ames, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with three sons- Scott, Todd and Derek. Chuck was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, Elmwood Country Club; a big supporter of the Jaycees and one of the founders of MFL (Marshalltown Football League). Being passionate about serving the Marshalltown community with the best products and services, he established Electric Supply of Marshalltown in 1977.
