Chuck went to high school in Marshalltown, graduating with the class of 1960. After graduation, he worked at the Bordens Dairy. While working at the Bordens Dairy, he met the love of his life, Mary Kathleen Hennis. They were united in marriage on December 12, 1964, in Marshalltown. After marrying Mary, he worked for Greyhound Bus Line and the Marshalltown Fire Department. Chuck and Mary made their home throughout the Midwest, raising their kids in both Iowa and Illinois. Mary worked at home raising 5 kids while Chuck made his living on the road, driving through the 48 lower continental states. Chuck known as grandpa to a big crew - he always had a kind word, infectious laugh, and a big hug for his family. Chuck loved the road and was often referred to as Road Map. He would often get calls from friends and family asking about the best route for road trips across the country, acting as the personal GPS for loved ones. Chuck loved his career as a truck driver, driving for many companies over the years, some of which include: Roadway Trucking and Yellow Freight, with his last job being with Juel Trucking. Chuck was always proud of his blemish free track record, earning the Safety Award for Yellow Freight for 18 years in a row and having over 3 million miles accident free. Chuck had many hobbies including cooking, woodworking, and grilling/ smoking for family and friends. His love of cooking was evident as he shopped around town picking the best places to buy meat, the best way to cook it, and sharing where to find the best deals around town.
