Clair Stanton Gould, 90, of Liscomb died Sunday, December 21st, 2008 at Grandview Heights Nursing Home in Marshalltown, after a short illness.A memorial service celebrating Clairs life is planned for in the Spring. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com.Born July 23rd, 1918, on a farm near Liscomb, Clair was the son of Jay and Sabina (Stanton) Gould. Clair grew up in the area and graduated from the Liscomb High School in 1936. On February 13th, 1941, Clair was united in marriage to Shirley Speicher in Princeton, MO. He then served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II, being discharged in 1946. Clair was a member of the Liscomb Church of Christ, the Liscomb Odd Fellows for over 60 years, the American Legion, Liscomb Fire Dept., and the Liscomb School Board.Clair loved all sports, woodworking and fishing. His pride and joy was the Grandfather clock he had made, and the house he had built where he and Shirley raised their family and lived for nearly 60 years. Clair always said I have the best family in the world. Left to cherish Clairs memory is his beloved wife of 67 years, Shirley; his sons Dallas Gould of McCallsburg, and Philip (Deb) Gould of Liscomb; his grandchildren Michelle (Steve) Sheets, Gabe (Jamie) Gould, and Ted (Corina) Gould; his great-grandchildren Mallori, Caleb, Zachary, Jacob, Ryan, Eleora, and Naomi; his brother Neil (Ruth) Gould of Liscomb; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. In death, Clair has rejoined his parents.
