Clara Schatzman, 80, of Marshalltown, died early Monday morning while under her familys loving care, Iowa River Hospice and the Villa del Sol. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 27th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born Clara Schaper on March 15th, 1930, in State Center, she was the daughter of William and Jesse (Shepherd) Schaper. She graduated from the Marshalltown High School in 1948. On December 2, 1952, she was united in marriage to John B. Jack Schatzman in Eldora. They made their home in Marshalltown all of their married lives where she was employed at Dunham-Bush/MEPCO until retiring in 1995. Clara was a member of the UAW and enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, and making potato salad and popcorn balls and treasured her grandchildren. Clara was a talented seamstress and loved to sew. She made her daughters wedding dress, the bridesmaids dresses and her son Bills Santa Claus outfit. She will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Allan (Patricia) Angell of Tampa Bay, FL, Jackie (Dennis) Karsjen of Conrad, Jolene (Dusty) Mayer of Marshalltown, and John "Schatz" Schatzman, Jr. of Albion, daughter-in-law Becky of Wellsburg, her loving grandchildren: Megan Moeller, John Angell, Patrick Angell, Allison Gaytan, Jody Linkenhoker, Jonna Mayer, Kelly Mayer, DeAna Schatzman and John Schatzman, III, her precious great-grandchildren Savannah, Addison, Jordan, Ethan, Anthony, Gabriel, Katie, Jade, Bailey, Emrie, two sisters: Shirley Quinn and Wilma Vry both of Marshalltown, several nieces , nephews and friends. In death, Clara rejoined her husband, her parents, son William Bill Angell, granddaughter Kristi Jo, brothers Kenny and Paul and Jr. in infancy and sister Katherine.
