Dale "Jerry" Resor

Dale “Jerry” Resor, 87, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully at UnityPoint Medical Center – Marshalltown on Sunday, April 30, 2023.

Dale Frank Resor was born on July 9, 1935 to Frank and Opal (Wright) Resor. He graduated from Strawberry Point High School in 1954. He married Betty Gessner on September 29, 1956 at Sacred Heart Church in Oelwein, Iowa. Soon after he was married, he joined the United States Army and they moved to El Paso, Texas for a two-year stint. He then enlisted in the National Guard, where he retired after twenty years of service. After retirement, he worked for Chicago Great Western Railroad, later merged to become Chicago North Western Railroad; where he was a car man, repairing rail cars. Jerry and Betty were blessed with three children: Lori, Jeff and Alan. Jerry loved to eat, sleep and cheer on football and basketball on the television. He didn’t care if it was professional or college level sports, he enjoyed them all.

Jerry is survived by his children: Lori Resor of Marshalltown, Jeff Resor of Bentonville, Arkansas and Alan Resor; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and siblings: Patty Kellogg of Strawberry Point, Iowa, Phyllis Kraul of Lincoln, Nebraska, twin brother Jack (Jean) Resor of Masonville, Iowa, Arthur Wright and Mike Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty and brother Bob Wright.
