The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Daniel and his family. Daniel was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on February 22, 1958; the son of Sylvan and Twyla (Adkins) Hass. During his childhood and adulthood he loved to play basketball with his brothers and any one that he could drag into the game. He had a competitive nature and did not like to lose. He was a graduate of the Marshalltown High School with the class of 1976, and afterwards he attended Hyles-Anderson College in Hammond, Indiana with a focus on Gospel Ministry and graduated with a bachelor’s degree. Daniel worked at the local grocery store owned by Ivan and Denise Thede and loved helping out all the customers and coworkers who he treated as family and friends. He started working for Ivan in 1974 and most recently worked at Madrid Market in Madrid, Iowa. He had a sweet tooth, but loved ice cream and ice pops the most, but he couldn’t start the day without his morning coffee. Daniel was married to Marsha Huwe in Des Moines, Iowa on February 5, 2010. His first marriage was to Carol (Harsha) Dunn and even though they would separate the two were blessed with three children:  Katie, Kellie, and Jenny. Daniel loved to keep his lawn up to extremely high standards and made sure every blade of grass was cut to the same length and tended to all of the flowers and that were growing. He enjoyed raking as well. Dandelions did not stand a chance in his lawn. He had a love of the St. Louis Rams, now the Los Angeles Rams, and would cheer them on every chance that he had. He also was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bulls and was ecstatic when the Cubs won the championship. Daniel had a lasting impact on many friends and family, with his kind and caring nature, and forgiving heart. Daniel had a simple life and will have a lasting memory and will be missed by all. Left to cherish Daniel’s memory is his children: Katie Hass, Kellie Hass and Jenny Hass; grandchildren: Melody, Collin, Cody, Kaliey, Luke, Eli, Jesse, Isabelle, Christian, Kayden, Kamryn, Andrew and Lilly. He is also survived by his siblings: Don Hass, Glenda Norman, David Hass, Dennis Hass, and Richard Hass; and his first wife Carol and second wife Marsha. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvan and Twyla, and grandparents, Erwin and Verna Hass and Russell and Lucille Adkins.
