Darlene Lunsford

Darlene Lunsford, 90, of Marshalltown, Iowa was called home in the early hours of the morning on Thursday, November 21, 2019. Funeral services for Darlene will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, November 25, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.In Lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials in Darlene’s name be directed to Bickford Cottage in Marshalltown or  to Iowa River Hospice. Eva Darlene Walters was born to parents JR and Dorothy (Butler) Walters on May 23, 1929 in Eldora, Iowa. She grew up in rural Green City, Missouri and graduated high school from Green City in the class of 1947. Shortly after her graduation she was united in marriage to her husband Keith on August 24, 1947 in Milan, Missouri. The two raised three children together Roger, Linda, and Kendall. The two were longtime residents of Albion, Iowa. Darlene worked two jobs she was a homemaker for her family and worked as a bookkeeper for the Albion Elevator where she would later retire from. She was a member of the Albion Firettes while Keith served as the town’s fire chief. In her free time Darlene absolutely loved to be with her family especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She enjoyed gardening, canning food, fishing, rock collecting and whenever able watching Iowa State Cyclone Basketball. Left to remember and cherish her memory are her children Roger (Rebecca) Lunsford, Linda (Ken) Michels, and Kendall (Darcie Lon) Lunsford; her grandchildren, Laura and Lisa Lunsford Darci (Guillermo) Hernandez, Andrea Rogers, Raymond (Lisa) Michels, Don (Angie) Lunsford, Dylan (Lindsay Williams) Lunsford; her great- grandchildren Morgan, Sam, Lillyanna, Elena, Selena, Eva, Anna, Ellie, Tavien, Ian, Tristan, Delaney, Isobel, Decan; and her sister Lois Williams. In death, Darlene is rejoined with her husband Keith; her parents, JR and Dorothy; her brothers, Donald and Gene Walters; and her sister, Barbara Elliott.
