Debra Deb Bennington, 61, of Grinnell, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Iowa River Hospice Home with her loving family by her side. Following Debs wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and her family will be having a Celebration of Life for Deb held on Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m., at the Eagles in Grinnell, Iowa. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Deb and her family. Debra Wilkens was born on May 26, 1955, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Mildred (Balmer) Wilkens. She was raised and educated in the Semco school district, graduating from Semco High School. Following high school, she went on to Marshalltown Community College where she obtained her Associates Degree in Human Service Rehab. On December 31, 2005, Deb was united in marriage to the love of her life, Victor Bennington in New Sharon, Iowa. Deb spent her life always caring and taking care of everyone she met. She was a very dedicated woman when it came to caring for others, that she spent 13 years devoted to working as a CNA at the Iowa Veterans Home helping others. Deb had a passion for painting, gardening, cooking, canning, crocheting and helping others. Left to cherish Debs memory is her husband: Victor Bennington; parents: Robert and Mildred Wilkens; children: Dan Ceaser, Angie Ceaser (Skyler Bailey), Matt Ceaser (Heather Hanson), and Marcie Ceaser; grandchildren: Kyleigh, Nicholas, Xavier, Sebastian, Gabriel and Christian; great-grandchildren: Nevaeh, Olivia and Micah; siblings: Sher, Barb (Randi), Sandy (Doug), Bob (Nancy), Don (Veronica), Steve (Jean), and Roger (Diane); several nieces and nephews; as well as her dog: Mia. She is preceded in death by her brother, Ed and one nephew, Bob.
