Dennis "Denny" Lester Johnson

Dennis “Denny” Johnson, 84, of Albion, Iowa, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019 in the comfort of his own home. Funeral services for Denny will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Dylan Does officiating.  Public visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, where Denny’s family will be present to greet friends.  Memorial contributions may be directed in Denny’s name to his family, which will be later designated elsewhere.  For further information or to send a condolence please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call (641) 844-1234.  Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Denny and his family. Dennis Lester Johnson was born on October 18, 1934 in Clemons, Iowa, to Lester and Elsie (Ingledue) Johnson.  He was raised and educated in the Marshall County School District.  Denny left high school prior to graduation to help his Uncle Glen Ingledue, farm. However, Denny received his G.E.D. while serving his country honorably in the United States Airforce.  On December 13, 1958, Denny was united in marriage to Beverly Benson until she passed away in 2012. Denny was a hardworking man dedicating over 30 years as a postal carrier.  He had a passion for farming, fishing, college football and basketball (especially the Iowa Hawkeyes), camping, traveling, mechanic work and spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Cherrie (Mike) Ring, Debra Johnson and Dennette Johnson; grandchildren, Khambia, John, Scarlet (Cody), Jon (Ashley) and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Khamdyn, Thomas, Tabitha, Matthias, Blake, Savanna, Ariannah, and Braxton; sister, Jan Sassen and sister-in-law, Becky Johnson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; parents, Lester and Elsie; two brothers, John “Kerry” and Greg; and grandson-in-law, Robert “Abe” Clarkson.
