Donald A. Snyder, 89, of 107 North 11th Avenue, Marshalltown, died early Tuesday morning, June 12th, at the Grandview Heights Care Center under the care of his family and the Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 15th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Linton of the Church of God officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. A time of fellowship and refreshment will follow in the hospitality room of the funeral home. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Donald and his family. Ph 844-1234. Born on October 26th, 1917, in Barron County, Michigan, he was the son of Frank and Vera (Jennings) Snyder. He graduated from the Marshalltown High School in 1936. On August 31st, 1940, he was united in marriage to Flossie Marie Yandell at her home in Marshalltown. They have resided in Marshalltown all of their married lives where he was employed at Lennox as a tool and die maker and retired as the supervisor for the tool and die department after 45 years. Donald served our country proudly in the United States Navy in WWII and will be fondly remembered for building and creating things and love of ice cream. Left to celebrate his life is his loving wife of 66 years, Flossie, his children: Mary (the late Dale) Jefferson, Sharon Snyder, Jim (Judy) Snyder and Marlan (Peggy) Snyder- all of the Marshalltown area, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his parents, brother Harold Snyder and son-in-law, Dale Jefferson.
