Donald Don Edward Catherwood, 69, of Union, died July 26, 2014 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Union Community Church. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Union Community Church. Burial will be in Hauser Cemetery. He was the son of Michael Vincent Catherwood and Sylvia Evelyn (Sennefelder) Catherwood. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1963 and served aboard the U.S.S. Galveston. Don worked at Fisher Controls for 35 years and was a member of the UAW 893 unit #1. He was an avid fisherman and devoted his free time to camping and boating on the Mississippi. Survivors include his children; Debra (Richard Sanders) Bell of Ivey, Georgia; William (Jennifer) Talbott of Union, IA; Donald Catherwood Jr. of Union, IA; Kristine (Dwight) Blomgren of Marshalltown, IA; Tracy(Ranea Gray) Catherwood of Union, IA; Allan (Robin) Kinney Jr. of Union, IA; and Kimberly(Nick Wanken) Catherwood of Union, IA; sister, Dorothy (Robert) Beenken of Lincoln IA; and his many grandchildren: James(Lita) Bell, Kathryn Bell, Donte, Sparkle(Michael Kokichi), Shawna(Don)Vokoun, Cody Stanley, Shyanne(Kerry) Fleming, Skyler(Marissa)Stocks, Coltin (Samantha) Kinney, Aaron Catherwood, Andrew Catherwood, Kandice Kinney, Ashley Kinney, Brock Kinney, Xavier (Kellie) Collins, Shannon (Zach) Johnson, Caitlin Egleston, Lane Stanley, and Imagin Wanken; and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn in 2009, parents; Michael and Sylvia Catherwood, brothers; Michael, Lawrence, Robert, Jerry, sister, Geraldine and his great grandson Gavin Hildreth.
