Donald Orrie Lyman was born to Elver and Anna (Meyer) Lyman on May 4th, 1932, in Santa Rosa, Texas. During high school, Don met the love of his life. On February 8th, 1952, Donald and Connie Lou Kendall were united in marriage at the Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church. Donald enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean War as a staff sergeant, until his honorable discharge in 1956. Don and Connie made their home in Marshalltown, Iowa, to raise their family. Donald worked for Swift & Co. for 35 years, starting on the line and working his way into the maintenance department. Following his retirement in 1996, Don took a job as a janitor at the First United Methodist Church. He and Connie loved their weekly bible study and getting together with church friends for game night. Don would like to spend his time in the woods, clearing brush or wandering, as well as fishing. He also enjoyed donating his time to the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, where both he and Connie volunteered. Left to cherish his memory are his children; Marc Donald (Tonia) Lyman, Marchelle Dawn (David) Bergland, Leisa Zoann (Robert) Mandell, grandchildren; Dannette (Chad) Daedlow, Jason (Karena) Lyman, Amber (Jason) Roberts, Nathan (Sky) Bergland, Kelsey (Dave) Bollinger, Ashley (Nathan) Paul, Chase (Erica) McCann and 12 great-grandchildren. In death, he rejoins his parents; Elver and Anna (Meyer) Lyman and his loving wife; Connie (Kendall) Lyman.
