Doris Yilek

Doris Mae Yilek, 79, of Grandview Heights Nursing and Rehab, died early Wednesday morning June 24, 2009, surrounded by her loving family and while under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 27th, 2009, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Doris was born on September 4th, 1929, in Green Mountain to Albert and Margert (Kaple) Chambers; she was educated in the area of her birth. Doris married Edward Yilek on January 31, 1948, in Marshalltown. They lived in Marshalltown all their married life. Doris was a proud homemaker. She enjoyed her family first and foremost. She liked to sew, crochet, play pepper, and she loved to play with her dogs, Cookie and Chiquita. Left to cherish her memory are her children Linda(Paul )Welch of State Center, Jackie(Mike) Craun of Boone, Duane Yilek of Marshalltown, Mary Wunder of Ames and Mike (Terri) Yilek of Marshalltown, her grandchildren, Jeff, Andy and Jon Welch, Stacie Vincent, Melissa Wunder, Trisha Werner, Michael Yilek,and Brittany Bailey and great grandchildren , Alex, Keaton, Kara, Ethan, Blake Welch,Dylano, Damion and Evelyn Werner, Camille and Elyza Ceren, a brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Helen Chambers of Marshalltown. Doris was preceded in death by her Husband Ed in 1997 and her parents Albert and Margert and a brother Clifford Chambers.
