Dorothy Ann (Lubbert) Blocker, 74, passed away at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 due to complications of rheumatoid arthritis.
Memorial services for Dorothy will take place on Monday, December 16 at 10:30 A.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 9:30 A.M. She will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Dorothy’s family encourages all attendees to dress in casual attire, especially representing Kansas City Chiefs, the Iowa Hawkeyes, Catilin Clark or NASCAR. Dorothy was born February 6, 1950 to parents Earl and Loretta (Toensveldt) Lubbert. She graduated from Gladbrook Community School with the class of 1968. She was employed at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home for four years prior to the 26 years she worked at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Dorothy was married to William Blocker and though later divorced, was blessed with daughter Billie Jo from this union. Her favorite pastimes were time with her grandkids, Tuesday coffee with the ladies at Westbrook Acres assisted living and going to the casino.
She is survived by her daughter, Billie Jo (Jayson) Mull; her grandchildren: Peytience Rice (Jordan), Alexa Mull (Blake) and Deacon Mull; brothers and sisters: Janice (Larry) Smith, Donald (Nancy) Lubbert, Mary Millard, Linda Mills, Diane (Dean) Lubbert and Larry (Maria) Lubbert; brother-in-law, Bill Babinat; and several nieces and nephews, including special nieces Stacey and Sara Badger.
Dorothy is preceded in death by the love of her life, Jimmy Memmer, sister and brother-in-law Donna and Bill Badger, sister Sandy Babinat, brothers-in-law Rex Millard and Ed Mills, sister-in-law Val Lubbert and niece, Melissa Babinat.
