January 9, 1938 — February 23, 2018

Ed Hannam, 80, of Marshalltown passed away February 23rd, 2018, at his home in Marshalltown under the care of Iowa River Hospice with his family by his side.   A visitation with the family will be held at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at St Henry Catholic Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Burial will be held in Melrose, Iowa later in the day. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Ed and his family.  Edward Patrick Hannam was born on January 9th, 1938, at Melrose, Iowa to Edward and Madelyn(Luttrell) Hannam. He graduated Melrose High School in 1956. Ed was united in marriage to Charlene Curran on June 17, 1959. He worked for the US Postal Service in Council Bluffs and Marshalltown IA for 34 years before retiring in 1993. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, good conversation and slot machines, and preferred to do all those things at the same time. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish and you could always find him at the bowling alley on Thursday night and weekends. Ed was a friend to many and always had a smile and kind word to share.   Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years Charlene of Marshalltown and their 7 children: Laura (Mike) Fricke and their children, Anna, Madelyn and Reed all of Marshalltown, John Hannam (Marshalltown), Jerry (Maria) Hannam and their children Tanner (Denver),Teague, Trey, Taggert, and Gabriella “Gabi” all of Loveland, CO, , Jeff (Teresa) Hannam and their children Alex (Maria) (Iowa City), Sabrina (Sampson) Songkhamdet (Iowa City), Jack (Marshalltown), Jim (Patti) Hannam and their children Kalli (Kansas City, MO), Jesse (Marshalltown), Joe (Peggy) Hannam and their children Matthew, Raechel,   Olivia all of Marshalltown, Beth (Matt) Streeter and their children Charlee, Tysen (Makayla), Elijah,Madisen all of Marshalltown, Victoria (Omaha,NE). Siblings, Bernard of Gresham OR, Bill (Linda) of West Des Moines, Tom (Patty) of Albia and Alice (Jack) Reynolds of Lebanon, TN.   In death he rejoins his parents and his brother Tim and sister-in-law Penny Hannam.
