EDNA LOUISE RAMSEY Edna Louise Martens was born in a small farmhouse in Lincoln Township, Tama County, Iowa to Gustav and Elsa (Koch) Martens on January 3rd, 1931. She was an only child, who spoke only German until she attended rural country school and then went on to graduate from Gladbrook High School in 1948. Edna worked on the farm and family hatchery business after briefly attending Iowa State Teachers college in Cedar Falls. She married Jack Ramsey on October 27th, 1953, then spent the next 20 years raising three kids, continuing to work on the farm and Hooks grocery store in Grundy Center. She was a lifetime member of the Salem Church of Lincoln, where she was choir director, choir member, bible school teacher and Sunday school teacher for most of her life. Her joys were her family, her church, her flowers and her pets. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing most of her kids and her own clothes. She loved family get togethers, celebrating birthdays and holidays. She was preceded in death by her parents and cousins Bill, Marcus and Emma Feddersen. Those left to celebrate her life are her husband of 63 years, Jack Ramsey. Children Lori Hockett (Rick), Lynne Ramsey-Merritt (James) and Martin Ramsey (Janell), grandsons Brad Ramsey (Diana) and Justin Strohman(Lynsie), great granddaughters Tristin and Lacey Strohman and Baby Ramsey. Visitation will be Thursday September 15th from 5p-8p at the Salem Church of Lincoln. Funeral Services will be held at the church Friday September 16th at 10:30A with lunch following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Salem Church of Lincoln, P.O. Box 170, Lincoln IA 50652.
