Elmer graduated high school in Tama and resided in the area for most of his life.   Elmer was united in marriage to the love of his life, Charlotte Lawrence, on May 1, 1951, in Stahl, MO (her hometown). Elmer served our country honorably in the US Army, serving in the Korean War; he worked as a farmer for much of his life, caring for chickens, hogs, beef cattle, and eventually helping his kids with their dairy cattle. Elmer also worked diligently at Fisher Controls. Elmer was a member of the Marshalltown church of Christ, where he met many of his longtime friends. In his free time, Elmer took pride in playing Yahtzee, filling out word-find books, and doing puzzles. Elmer was a Jack-of-all-trades, and spent his life helping others with any problem they had.   Elmer is remembered by his two children: Michael “Egg” VanEgdom of Montour, IA, and Brenda (Mike) Dilly of Montour, IA. Elmer is also survived by his brother, Larry (Judy) VanEgdom of Greeley, CO, and many other family members and friends.   Elmer is reunited in death with his parents, Antonie and Alice; his beloved wife Charlotte; and his siblings, Clarence VanEgdom and Marlene Ingle.
