Eltha Mae Holm, 91, of Marshalltown, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at her home. Memorial services for Eltha will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. Eltha Gross was born on May 10, 1923 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to George and Alice Underwood Gross. She attended the Fort Dodge School district and graduated with the class of 1942. Eltha was united in marriage on June 13, 1948 to Alfred M. Holm at St Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. They resided in Fort Dodge and Iowa Falls before calling Marshalltown home in 1958. Eltha was employed as a secretary at the Fort Dodge High School and Junior College as well as the Marshalltown School District retiring in 1988. She was an active member of Elim Lutheran Church in the womens groups as well as a Sunday school teacher. Eltha was a devoted loving wife, mother and grandmother. She served many years as a Girl Scout leader and as a volunteer in the community. She was an avid gardener and spent many hours enjoying it. She loved to travel and spending family vacations camping in the mountains. She also cherished the time with her family and her many friends and loved to just help out where needed. Eltha is survived by her children: Alan of Marshalltown and Barbara (Mike) Behrle of Pineville, Missouri. Grandchildren: Josi Behrle and Wyatt Mikesell. Sister: Jane Pierson. Brother: Robert (Lonnie) Gross and many other family members and friends. Eltha is preceded in death by her husband Alfred who passed in 1980, parents, brothers Earl and James Gross and her sister Mary Enquist as well as several other family members.
