Esther C. Stonewall

Esther C. Stonewall, 93, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Grandview Heights Rehab & Healthcare. Esther C. Behrens was born on December 19, 1924 in Chapin, Iowa, the daughter of Bernhard “Ben” and Lillie (Kammrad) Behrens.  She was raised and educated in the Union-Whitten school district, graduating from Conrad High School.  Esther was united in marriage to Manley G. Stonewall on September 14, 1946 in Conrad, Iowa.  From this union one daughter was born: Linda.  Esther most recently worked for and later retired from Dahls Bakery in Des Moines.  She was a proud member of Elim Lutheran Church.  Esther truly enjoyed her fishing trips with her family up north, watching NASCAR, baseball (St. Louis Cardinals) and game shows on T.V., and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter: Linda (Tom) Ward; grandchildren: Shannon (Richard) Leavy and Brandi (Bob) Zednichek; great-grandchildren: Morgan (Jacob McDaniel) Duff, Taylor Duff, Ethan Zednichek and Dalton Zednichek; as well as two great-great grandchildren: Lucas and Leah McDaniel. She is preceded in death by her husband: Manley Stonewall; parents: Ben and Lillie Behrens; two sisters and one special great-grandson: Thomas Zednichek.
