Fern Tuttle

Fern Tuttle, 83, of the Embers, died there Tuesday, March 29, 2011, with her loving family at her side while under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Following cremation, a memorial visitation for Fern will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A private family burial will be held. Memorial services for Fern will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 3, at the Bangor Liberty Friends Church. Fern was born February 11, 1928, in Conde, South Dakota, the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Breed) Jensen. She was raised in the Conde area until the age of nine years at which time her family moved to Iowa and settled in the Mormon Ridge area. Fern attended the country schools and went on to graduate from the Marshalltown High School with the class of 1946. On March 28, 1947, in LaMoille, Iowa, she was united in marriage to Wayne Tuttle. Following their marriage they made their home north of LaMoille on their family farm for over thirty-five years where Fern raised their five children and was a loving mother and an active part of their family farm. She also worked for three years at the McRill-Stowell Insurance Agency in Albion, Iowa. Fern volunteered her time with the House of Compassion, the YMCA and Iowa River Hospice. Fern was a member of the Bangor Liberty Friends Church and was a member of the Taco Tuesday group, the Leornian Club and the Missionary Society. Above all Fern was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. She enjoyed attending and supporting her grandchildren at their many activities.Fern is survived by her husband Wayne, of Marshalltown, her children: Elaine (Mike) Farnsworth of Aurora, Colorado, Mark Tuttle of Sartell, Minnesota, Scott (Cindy) Tuttle of Peosta, Iowa, Sue (Joseph) Osier of Quincy, Illinois and Sarah (Karl) Spuhl of OFallon, Missouri, her brother Bud Jensen of Melbourne, Iowa, her ten grandchildren: Tim, Andrea, Rachael, Geoff, Kyle, Natalie, Nick, Zach, Emma and Daniel and her seven great-grandsons.
