Flora Jones

Flora (Mrs. James) Jones, 69, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday morning, July 5, at the Iowa River Hospice house in Marshalltown under their care and her loving family. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Kim Wilson officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her mother in Mobile, Alabama. Wilson on March 25, 1942, in Wilcox County, Alabama, she was fifth of twelve children born to Johnie and Hattie (Rogers) Wilson. The family moved to Mobile where she graduated from Cedar Grove Academy in 1958. In October of 1962, she moved to Marshalltown. On March 20, 1963, she was united in marriage to James H. Jones. At an early age, Flora accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of the Morrow United Methodist Church for 46 years. She taught Sunday school and was a layperson of the church for 20 years until the closing of the church. At numerous funerals in the community, she shared words of comfort with eulogies and condolences as well as singing. Mrs. Jones served four years as PTA President at Glick Elementary School and had been employed at Hellbergs Jewelry, the Times-Republican and the Pennysaver. Left to cherish her memory are James, her loving husband of 48 years, her children: Sharon D. Jones (Bill Thompson) of Des Moines and Aundray Jones (Kellie Lindblom) of Cedar Rapids, her granddaughter Jasmyne Kianna Jones, her siblings: Theodore (Bernice) Wilson, Jack (Virgie)Wilson, Woodrow Wilson, Samuel (Magdalyn) Wilson, Elnora (Rudy) Valentine, Rose (Randy) Bond, Sylvia Lockhart, Katie Wilson, Amy(Harrison) McKinney, as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death, Flora rejoined her mother Hattie Wilson, her father Johnie Wilson, her sisters Pearlie Mae Wilson and Lottie Mae Wilson as well as many friends.
