Flossie Snyder

Flossie Snyder, 92, of Marshalltown, died Saturday morning, December 20th, 2008, at the Villa del Sol. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 27th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Bobby Shomo, chaplain of the Iowa River Hospice officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Born Flossie Marie Yandell on January 2, 1916, in rural Grundy County, Iowa, she was the daughter of Irwin and Pearl (Stevens) Yandell. She graduated from the Marshalltown High School. On August 31st, 1940, she was united in marriage to Donald A. Snyder at her home. The couple made Marshalltown their home and where she was active in the Church of God on South Street, serving since her teenage years as a Sunday School Teacher until recent years. She blessed many children in her classes as the Sunday School Grandma and enjoyed taking care of them as well as her own family. Her family and the church were very important to her. Left to cherish her memory are four children: Mary Jefferson of Marshalltown, Sharon Snyder of Marshalltown, Jim (Judy) Snyder of Albion and Marlan Snapper (Peggy) Snyder of Garwin, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three brothers, one sister and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. In death she has rejoined her husband Donald, son-in-law Dale Jefferson and two brothers.
