Floyd Nicholas Ears Mancieri, passed away on Monday, August 26th, after a long battle with COPD. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by the family and friends he loved so much. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at the funeral home. Nic was born on July 12, 1951, in Marshalltown, and grew up in Rhode Island until the age of five, and (except for a five year time period he lived in Port St. Lucie, Florida) resided in Marshalltown all of his life. As a youngster, Nic loved the ocean, digging for clams and chasing small crabs with his brother, Bobby. Nic graduated from the Marshalltown High School in 1969. He loved to play softball while drinking beer with his buddies. He loved golf, and spent a huge amount of time on the river and fishing. Rock collecting became a passion, and he spent hours contemplating where they came from and what they might have been used for. He was especially fond of Indian artifacts. Nic worked at Handy Industries for 15 years as well as various other jobs throughout his life. On May 5, 1984, he was united in marriage to the love of his live, Robin Renee Jensen. They shared a life with their three children; Nicole, Miles and Jay. Nic was preceded in death by his father Robert Mancieri, mother Maxine (Scadden) Tichy, paternal and maternal grandparents, first wife Marla and son, Mario. Those left to honor Nics memory include his wife of 29 years, Robin Renee; daughter Nicole (Aaron) Jones, sons Miles Mancieri (Lauren Clark) and Jay Mancieri (Amanda Carter); grandchildren; Caleb Jones, Ty Jones, Wyatt Stalzer Mancieri, and Floyd Nicholas Carter Mancieri; brother Robert (Sally) Mancieri, sisters Jacki (Gary) Bolar and Beth (Lonnie) Barnes, step-father Frank Tichy all of Marshalltown, sister Linda (Loren) Roth of Farmer City, Illinois; many nieces and nephews, numerous friends and Gambino, his loyal four-legged friend.
