Forest (Frosty) Halverson, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 103 years of age. Visitation for Frosty will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Frosty was born on May 11, 1914 on his familys farmstead. He was educated near Laurel and graduated from Laurel High School in 1932. Frosty married Martha Conger in 1940 and they lived on the farm they worked near Laurel. She preceded him in death in 1975. He later married Dora Wells and she preceded him in death in 2000. Frosty was a farmer and also enjoyed raising and training his horses for Harness Racing. He also enjoyed dancing for many years. In 1946, Frosty and Martha took in Larry Good to raise. Larry and Sandra Sam reside in Marshalltown. Also surviving are Doras children: John (Pam) Wells of Marshalltown and Marjorie (Dave) Hunter of Texas, as well as grandchildren: Daniel (Jill) Wells, Kristin (David) Heese, Jordan Wells, Nicole Wells, Chase Hunter, James (Kristin) Hunter, Cassandra (Dennis) Schapker and Christina Good and 10 great grandchildren. He also had many special nieces and nephews. Along the years, Frosty had close relationships with special people. (You know who you are!) Besides two wives, he was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold and LaVerne Halverson and one sister, Ruby Spence.
