Francis Edward Porter

Francis Porter, 79, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Francis Edward Porter was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on June 10, 1935, to parents, George F. and Amelia (Bulanek) Porter. After graduation from high school, Francis served his country honorably in the United States Army. Francis married Shirley Burhow on June 23, 1957, in Laurel, Iowa. Francis and Shirley called Marshalltown home for their married life. Francis was employed by Iowa Light Company as the Store Keeper his entire career. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marshalltown, and IBEW. He thoroughly enjoyed railroading and took a special interest in trains. Francis is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley Porter of Marshalltown, IA; daughter, Lynda (Porter) Brockway of Titusville, FL; and his granddaughter, Jenifer Brockway of Titusville, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother.
