She graduated from the LDF High School in 1971 before attending Iowa State for two years and then Iowa Wesleyan for two years, graduating in 1976. She began a career in helping others soon after at Mt. Pleasant as a mental health worker until the state budget cuts affected her job in 1980-81. She returned to her home community to start working at the Iowa Veterans Home in May of 1982 until retiring on May 3rd, 2010. Gail was a member of the Le Grand Friends Church, former Gilman Order of the Eastern Star and now the Marshalltown OES, and the Le Grand Lioness. She enjoyed the Chicago Bulls, sports, music, animals on the farm, camping at the Iowa State Fair and loved people- having this philosophy: Accept people as they are and having them accept her as she was. She loved people. Live each day as it comes- accept the good with the bad. Left to cherish her memory are her parents-Jack and Betty of Marshalltown, her brother Kim Keen (Vickie Gummert) of Marshalltown, niece Brittany (Matt) Gaukler of Marshalltown and their children Marisa, Aaden and Camden; nephew Jon (Heather) Keen of Toledo and their children Kailiee, Jaekob, Elena and Kara, numerous friends and other family that adored her. In death, Gail rejoined her grandparents.
