He graduated from the SEMCO High School (Gilman) and was an Iowa State University alumni. Years later, Gary was proud to serve on the school board (now East Marshall) for nine years. On December 6th, 1974, he married the love of his life, Beth Muller, in Newton. Gary retired after 48 years with Alliant Energy, an honor and rarity in today’s world. He also served our country honorably in the Iowa Army National Guard. A good day would be fishing, the annual trip to watch the Nationals at Knoxville Raceway, playing softball and football- which he will be fondly remembered for excelling in. Spending time with family and having grandkids pop in unexpectedly. Enjoying going to grandkid’s games and activities and taking road trips with his wife. Left to cherish his memory are Beth, his loving wife of 44 years, his daughter Erin (Jaycin) Cross of Whitten, grandchildren Cody Heck, Noah Cross, McKenna Cross and Palmer Cross and many friends. In death, Gary rejoined his parents and sister, Phyllis Brindle.
