July 16, 1951 — February 19, 2016

Gary Chrisman (64) of New Providence Iowa, passed away on February 19th, 2016, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24th 2016, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, from 12:00 until 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Sheppard Cemetery in Union, Iowa. Memorial contributions can be made to the family to be designated at a later date. Gary Frederick Chrisman was born to Ray and Beverly (Jones) Chrisman on July 16th, 1951, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area, graduating from the Eldora High School with the class of 1971. Following his education, Gary served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. After serving his country, on May 30th, 1971, Gary and Betty Ann Christensen were united in marriage at the United Brethren Church in Zearing, Iowa. Together the family moved to Gifford, Iowa to start their family. They then relocated to Eldora and Lincoln. The family settled in New Providence in 2014. Gary was a truck driver and heavy machine operator until his retirement in 1986. He loved camping, fishing and barbequing chicken. Left to honor his memory is his wife; Betty (Christensen) Chrisman, children; Brandy (Kavin McBride) Chrisman, grandchildren; Melissa, Kylie, Kaden and Alexa, sibings; Linda Hattell, Shirley (Darell) Coatney, Pam Chrisman, nephews; Sean and jay Piere, nieces; Tammy Green, Tina Murphy and Teresa Janssen. In death, Gary rejoins his father; Ray Chrisman, son; Tracy Chrisman, step-father; Harold Rosburg, great-grandmother; Verda (Orin) Chrisman, and many other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
