Harold Brown, 86, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2015, in the comfort of his own home. Funeral services for Harold will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor John Whitehead officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where his family will be present to greet friends. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Harold and his family. Harold Brown was born on January 26, 1928, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Frank and Pearl (Callahan) Brown. He was raised and educated in the Laurel School District, graduating from Laurel High School. Following high school, Harold joined the United States Army where he honorably served his country in WWII as well as the Korean War. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Imogene Borton, on June 12, 1954, at the First Congregational Church in Marshalltown. Harold was a hardworking man, spending 36 years with Fisher Controls before retiring from there in 1990. He was a charter member of the UAW local 893, president of the Eagles Lodge, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Sons of American Legion Post 46. Harold was passionate about his family, roller skating, camping, fishing, boy scouts, which he became a Scout Master, cooking, grilling, dancing, gardening, and playing his drums in several different bands. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Imogene Brown; children: Keith (Amelda Miller) Clappsaddle, Harold (Jana) Brown Jr., Glendora Brown, Russell (Candi) Brown, and Lisa (Mike) Stackhouse-Vajgert; grandchildren: Karen Rockne, Amy Zeman, Daniel Clappsaddle, Dustin Brown, Heather Dostal, Rusty Brown, Nick Brown, Gina Frost, Carter Brown, Jeannie Stackhouse, Kevin Stackhouse, and Samantha Regalado; great-grandchildren: Scott Rockne, Breanna Rockne, Joe Stanton, Jersey Zeman, Jasper Zeman, Jozie Brown, Julia Brown, Jayce Dostal, Karley Frost, Alivia Frost, Jordan Rhodes, Trinity Salyers, Nora Stackhouse, Briget Stackhouse, Skyler Stackhouse, and Baby Boy Brown on the way; two brothers: Claude Brown and Ben Brown, Sr.; one sister, Mary Jane Tracey; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Bud, Elroy and Frank; four sisters: Doris, Ethel, Imogene, and Dee; grandson: Curtis Stackhouse; great-grandson: Kevin Edward; and one son-in-law, Chris Stackhouse; and a special nephew, Jim Busch, Sr.
