Helen Isaacson, 87, of Marshalltown, died early Sunday morning, February 10th, at the MMSC. Her death came peacefully at 5:50 a.m. with her family at her side. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 15th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Following the graveside, all are invited to a fellowship and refreshments at the hospitality room of the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Born Helen Catherine Ralf on January 28th, 1921, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Grace (Wikle) Ralf. She graduated from the Marshalltown High Schools Class of 1938. On September 28th, 1940, she was united in marriage to George Ed Isaacson. They farmed in the Liscomb, Bristow and Aredale areas before moving to their farm north of Green Mountain until his death in 1964. The couple had two children, Gary and Phyllis. Mrs. Isaacson enjoyed camping and fishing and especially cooking. At the time of her passing, she was still collecting recipes. In 1969, she joined Eds sister and brother-in-law in Phoenix, AZ. To enjoy the sunshine and exploring with her new companion, William Ankrum. In 1992, Helen, Bill and her daughter Phyllis returned home to Marshalltown and made their home with Phyllis. Left to celebrate her life are her daughter, Phyllis Jean Fistler of Marshalltown, daughter-in-law Pam Isaacson of Sioux Rapids, granddaughter Kriststine (Tim) Payne of Sioux Rapids and their sons Cooper and Jaxsen, brother Marion (Laura) Ralf of Marshalltown, two nieces: Margaret (Andy) Andrews of Marshalltown and children Sally, Suzie, Sarah, and Scott and JoAnn (Bill) Decker of Marshalltown and children Tom, Dennis and LeAnn, nephew Don (Marilyn) Ralf of Marshalltown- his son Ryan Ralf and her sons Doug and Randy Henze, her longtime companion Bill Ankrums family: Barbara (Carlos) Jimenez and their family of Hubbard and Steve (Lavonne) Ankrum of Des Moines, her other daughter Pam Zugg, several other cousins and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her parents, son Gary, husband Ed, companion Bill, brother and sister-in-law Harold and Myrtle Ralf and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kay and Paul Mason.
