Helmer Pete Peterson, 76, of Liscomb, Iowa, was called home on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, with his loving family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013, at the Liscomb Church of Christ in Liscomb, Iowa. Helmer William Peterson was born on July 4, 1937, in Mankato, Minnesota. He was the son of Helmer August and Ruth Violet (High) Peterson. He attended school in the Mankato School District and then received his Bachelors Degree in Ministry from Central Christian College of Bible. On September 8, 1962, Pete was united in marriage to Linda Wilson in Des Moines, Iowa. Pete spent his lifetime serving God and others in ministries in Wisconsin, Missouri, Indiana and Iowa. He served at the Liscomb Church of Christ in Liscomb, Iowa for 40 yearsfrom 1965 to 2005. For many of those years, he was a member of the Liscomb Volunteer Fire Department and an EMT. He was a gifted musician. He loved to sing and played the guitar and violin. Pete was a Christ-like man, a loving and caring person who made time for everyone. The most important role in his life was that of a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Linda, of Liscomb, Iowa. Children: Deborah (Dave) Critchfield of Marshalltown, Iowa; Helmer Daniel (Melanie) Peterson, of Alburnett, Iowa; David (Valarie) Peterson of Marshalltown, Iowa; and Christina (Allen) Schofield of Rolla, Missouri. Grandchildren: Tyler and Austin Critchfield, Randi Williams, Jaime Hooley, Jordan Soy, Andrew, Bethany, Joshua and Rebekah Peterson, and Stephen, Jessie and Christopher Peterson, and Lily Schofield. Great-grandchildren: Bryant and Kennedy Williams, Benjamen Soy, Cooper Hooley, and Ryan Soy. Siblings: Bert (Beverly) Peterson of Zion, Illinois; Robert (Dianne) Peterson; Marlin (Jeanne) Peterson, Virgil (Nancy) Peterson; and brother-in law, Dick Pringle, all of North Mankato, Minnesota. In death Helmer rejoins his parents, Helmer and Ruth, and sister, Mary Pringle.
