Henry "Hank" Samora Jr.

Henry Samora Jr., age 64, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on June 7, 2024 at the Iowa River Hospice House.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Mitchell Family Funeral Home on Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Followed by services at 7:00 P.M. He will be laid to rest at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter on Monday, June 24 at 11:00 A.M. Memorials may be directed to the family. Henry Samora Jr. was born on October, 21, 1959 in Denver, Colorado. He was the son of Henry Samora Sr. and Donna (Osbourne) Samora. After graduating from Burlington High School in Kansas, Henry served his country proudly in the United States Navy.

He was united in marriage with Lisa (Heinitz) Samora on November 15, 1987 in Ottawa, Kansas. They made their home in Marshalltown, Iowa, where Henry dedicated 27 years as a forklift operator for Lennox until his retirement. He was a proud member of the UAW Local 893. In his free time, he liked to fish, grill, cook, and garden his own vegetables. Henry loved listening to classic rock music and riding his Harley Davidson. He always knew how to have a good time and enjoyed good company.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lisa Samora; his children: Richard “Richie” Samora of South Carolina and Stevie Rae Lavender of Marshalltown, IA; his grandchildren: Jace Lavender, Jordan, Joslynn, Jonathon, James, Dante Samora, Alexander Samora, Diandre Axley, Nevaeh, Milana, and Draven Samora; his sisters: Deborah Griggs, Patricia Samora, and Janice Samora; his adoptive mother Frances Crookes and adoptive brothers, Rick and Terry Crookes.

Henry is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his parents Henry and Donna, and his adoptive father Dean Crookes.
