HopeArmbrecht Riese, 88, of Marshalltown, formerly of State Center, died Wednesday, February 17th, 2010 at Villa Del Sol.A celebration of Hopes life will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 22nd at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Sunday at the Mitchell Family Funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church. The Mitchell Family Funeral home is caring for Hope and her family.Hope Genevieve Armbrecht was born in Clemons on May 4th, 1921 to parents Louis and Minna (Bohnsack) Armbrecht. Hope attended school in State Center, graduating in 1938. Upon graduation, she attended AIB in Des Moines, in their secretarial program. Hope worked at Dr. Biersborns office in State Center as a receptionist, bookkeeper, and lab technician until her marriage.On June 18th, 1944, Hope was united in marriage to Darwin Lloyd Riese at St. Johns Lutheran Church in rural State Center. The couple made their home on the family farm in rural State Center where they raised their five children. When the children were grown Hope received her Certificate of Nurses Aide and worked at the State Center Manor as an aide, later as laundry supervisor, then continued to do residents mending for a total of thirty years.Hope was an avid hand quilter, having created many beautiful quilts for her family and others. She was also a talented seamstress, performing countless alterations. Hope was very active in her church throughout her life including Walther League, Sunday School teaching, Ladies Aid, choir, Aid Association for Lutherans, Adult Fellowship, Lutheran Womens Missionary League, Bible Studies and quilting for World Relief. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.Left to celebrate Hopes life, and cherish her memory are her five children: Louis (Janice) Riese of Marshalltown, Judy (Paul) Teig of Roland, Glen (Lorrie) Riese of State Center, Karen Hill of Papillion, Nebraska and Rebecca Jean Baedke of Marshalltown. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Tracy Garrison, Tim Hill, Brenton (Jenny) Riese, Aaron Teig, Ryan, Adam and Lucas Baedke and Cody Riese; six great-grandchildren: Christina, Tyger, Lindsey, Lily, Alyssa Hope, and Michael Darwin; sisters-in-law Lorinda Pfantz of State Center and Fern Becker of Zearing;step-brother Don (Eloise) Severidt of Marshalltown, step-sisters-in-law LaNida and Wanda Severidt as well as many nephews, nieces and friends. In death, Hope has rejoined her parents, Minna & Louis and beloved step father, William Severidt, her 4 year old brother, Archie, her sister, Dorothy Mueller, her beloved husband of 58 years, Darwin, and brothers-in-law, Melvin Mueller, Hillis Becker and Marvin Pfantz; step-brothers Glen, Harold, Earl and George Severidt and step-sister Edith Mahlow.
