.Hubert DeSchamp, 89, of Garwin, Iowa passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook, Iowa.A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, JULY 14, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Garwin United Methodist Church in Garwin, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #127 of Gladbrook, Iowa. Hubert Wayne DeSchamp was born in Montour, Iowa on July 16, 1928; he was the son of Paul and Florence (Pearson) DeSchamp. He attended and graduated from school from the Montour County School. Hubert served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953 being discharged early to come home to take care of his family. Hubert was united in marriage to Mary Jane Wolfe and they were blessed with 4 children, Dawn, Douglas, Sarah and Matt. Hubert had remained in the Garwin area his entire life. Owned and operated DeSchamp Construction. He enjoyed spending time on the farm. He had been a member of the Lions Club, School Board, City Council, and the Garwin United Methodist Church, and held the position of Fire Chief at Garwin Fire Department. Hubert enjoyed everything nature like hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also enjoyed baseball and the IOWA HAWKEYES. Left to cherish Hubert’s memory are his children: Dawn (Jim) Smith of Birmingham, Alabama, their children: Nicholas and Maria Smith; son, Douglas (Glenna) DeSchamp of Williamsburg, Iowa, daughter, Sarah DeSchamp of Ankeny, Iowa, her children: Grant, Hannah and Abbey Manfull and son, Matt (Stephanie) DeSchamp of Garwin, Iowa and their children: Matthew, Mckensie and Mattie, and a niece raised by Hubert, Marty (Chan) Wallace of Altoona, Iowa.
