James Olsen, 61, of Marshalltown, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Currently, no funeral services are pending. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Jim and his family. James was born on May 28, 1955 in Fort Collins, Colorado to Eugene and Carolyn Schaper Olsen. On November 24, 1984, Jim was united in marriage to LuAnn Thompson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Jim had previously been employed with Brownells in Grinnell. He enjoyed fishing, yard work, bowling with his friends and was a cat lover. He especially enjoyed the time with his grandchildren. Jim is survived by his wife of 32 years, LuAnn and son Chris (Alycia) Olsen of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. He is also survived by his grandchildren Danika and Carver and Maddux who is on the way and his sister Deb (Gary) Williams of West Des Moines and his cats, Teddy and Misty. He is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Carolyn and his sister Peggy Anderson.
