Jerry Lee Thede was born on March 12th, 1975, in Marshalltown, IA, to Jerald and Marcia (McKeag) Thede. His father passed away in 1981; and later in life, Earl Murty became his step-father, whom Jerry fondly loved as a father. He graduated from the South Tama High School in 1993. Later, he received his business degree from UNI. Jerry was passionate about his career with Fareway Grocery Stores. He obtained a job at the Tama Fareway Store at the age of 15, and aside from a couple years during college, continued to work and grow with them until his passing. There were several communities he called home during this time, including Atlantic, Le Claire, Ankeny, and the last five years in Nebraska City, NE. In mid-December, he came to Marshalltown to enter hospice care and be near family. On September 8th, 2001, he was united to the love of his life, Jeanette Eastman, at the New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown. Together they were blessed with a daughter, Aspen Rose, in 2010. Jerry treasured his family and work, enjoyed traveling and golfing when he could, and loved watching football. He was an Iowa Hawkeye fan and the Miami Dolphins were, by far, his most beloved team. In high school, he loved wrestling and continued to follow the sport, especially with one of his nephews. Left to cherish his memory are Jeanette, his loving wife of 15 years and daughter Aspen Rose; his mother Marcia and Earl Murty of Traer; sister Nikki (Ron) Nezerka of Cedar Rapids; brother Micheal (Julie) Thede of Toledo; step-brother Earl (Jan) Murty of Fountain City, WI; step-sisters Jenny (Brock) Goos of Dike and Sarah Murty (Brian Bauer) of Mason City; his in-laws Dan and Linda Eastman of Marshalltown, DJ (Angie) Eastman of Marshalltown, Brook (Adam) Jech of Wayne, NE, and Scot Olson; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his Fareway Family. In death, Jerry rejoined his father Jerald (1981), and his grandparents.
